Bobcat’s Integration of Doosan Forklifts and Advances in Machine Connectivity and Safety

August 2024

Bobcat is expanding its material handling capabilities through the strategic rebranding of Doosan forklifts, integrating them into its compact machine portfolio. This significant step forward, marked by the application of Bobcat’s distinctive design, will enhance the forklift line with advanced technology and sustainability features.

Following its acquisition of Doosan Industrial Vehicle, Bobcat now offers an extensive range of material handling solutions. This integration combines Doosan’s forklifts with Bobcat’s existing lineup of compact loaders and telehandlers. The expanded portfolio includes diesel forklifts with lifting capacities from 2 to 16 tonnes, LPG forklifts from 1.5 to 7 tonnes, and electric forklifts from 1.5 to 10 tonnes, all designed for versatility across logistics, construction, warehousing, and manufacturing sectors.

Bobcat’s commitment to innovation and research and development (R&D) is evident in its advanced technologies and product offerings. The company has introduced groundbreaking innovations such as the E10e and E19e mini-excavators in Europe and the fully electric T7X track loader in North America. Upcoming products like the S7X skid-steer loader and the TL25.60e electric telehandler concept highlight Bobcat’s focus on sustainability and cutting-edge technology.

The company’s R&D strategy emphasizes four core principles: connectivity, performance, sustainability, and safety. Bobcat integrates real-time data capabilities into its machines through tools like the MaxControl remote control system and the MachineIQ remote monitoring platform, enhancing productivity and aligning with sustainability goals. These innovations ensure that machines are equipped to deliver critical information, thereby improving operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.

Bobcat has also introduced several safety and efficiency technologies, showcased at the recent Demo Days event for the EMEA region. Notable advancements include the Operator Presence system, utilizing 3D time-of-flight (ToF) cameras to monitor operator movements, and the AI-powered Pedestrian Detection Camera, which reduces false alerts by accurately distinguishing between humans and objects. Additionally, the company has unveiled transparent OLED (T-OLED) screen technology, developed in collaboration with LG and BSI Research. This technology allows operators to access machine functionalities while maintaining focus on the worksite, supporting advanced applications such as real-time VR simulations for utility line mapping.
