Bauwatch, a leading security company with a turnover of nearly €75 million in 2023, is set to enhance its surveillance capabilities by introducing drones to monitor construction sites and other critical areas. The drones, equipped with cameras, are expected to be operational later this year, according to Ronald Boerkamp, the company's director.
The initiative is part of a partnership with Katwijk-based Drone Flight Company, which specializes in corporate drone services. The collaboration includes training drone pilots and ensuring compliance with strict licensing requirements, as the drones will operate beyond the operators' visual line of sight, necessitating professional certification.
Boerkamp highlighted the growing demand for advanced security solutions, noting that around 15 organizations, including universities, rail operators, and critical infrastructure managers, have already expressed interest in the pilot program. Targeted areas include ports, solar farms, and industrial sites, although offshore operations, such as monitoring underwater cable networks, remain outside the company's scope.
Drone Flight Company serves several high-profile clients, including NS, the Ministry of Defense, the Inspectorate for the Environment and Transport (ILT), and construction giant BAM. Its expertise aligns with Bauwatch's commitment to enhancing security measures for high-value and sensitive locations.
Boerkamp described drones as a major advancement in the security industry, enabling more effective surveillance of key locations. While Bauwatch is focusing on land-based operations, its use of cutting-edge technology aims to meet the increasing need for robust and adaptable security solutions.
