Scheduled for establishment in late December 2024, the new center aims to leverage India’s rich pool of talent in mechanical engineering and IT. The company plans to grow its workforce to approximately 200 engineers and designers by FY2027. India’s strong foundation in science and technology, bolstered by a growing ecosystem of startups and universities, makes it an ideal location for this initiative.
Hubballi, designated as a "smart city" under Indian government policy, was chosen for its expanding infrastructure, educational institutions, and administrative facilities. This strategic location will enable Hitachi Construction Machinery to access a robust talent pipeline and contribute to the region’s economic development.
Enhancing Global Product Development
The new center will play a pivotal role in the development of globally deployed construction machinery such as hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders. Additionally, it will focus on creating common underlying technologies for operator cabs, machinery structures, and more.
The facility will integrate Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to perform technical calculations, simulations, and analyses. Engineers will evaluate the strength of structures, analyze heat transmission, and study noise and vibration impacts on machinery. This advanced approach aligns with Hitachi’s goal of accelerating product development and enhancing performance to address customer needs effectively.
Training and Full-Scale Operations
To ensure the highest standards of expertise, engineers hired in India will undergo specialized training in Japan. The company plans to commence full-scale operations at the facility by April 2026.
