Thomas Johnstone Ltd (TJL) are delighted to have been appointed as the main contractor for a multi-million-pound refurbishment project at Crieff Hydro Hotel, Perthshire, the flagship property of Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels.
We bring our long history of working in live hotel environments and heritage buildings to the project, which will create a new day-to-night bar, refurbished dining areas, and a speakeasy bar with a new look and feel for hotel guests and visitors to enjoy. The hotel will remain open throughout the project, with our expertise ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations and guests’ experiences.
Our proven track record of delivering high-profile hospitality projects with precision and care, ability to coordinate complex design elements and extensive in-house capabilities were key factors in our appointment to the project, which is the most significant investment in the hotel for 20 years.
The project is the vision of brothers Richard and Charlie Leckie, the sixth generation of the Leckie family at Crieff Hydro, who have been instrumental in shaping the hotel’s legacy and maintaining its high standards.
Work will commence in January 2025, and the new areas will be unveiled in the Spring.
Campbell Ross, Regional Construction Director, Thomas Johnstone, commented, “We are delighted to bring our reputation for delivering excellence to this project at Crieff Hydro. Sharing a heritage with Crieff Hydro, also established in 1868, makes this collaboration feel especially meaningful as we work with the wider design team to create these new spaces to elevate the hotel’s guest experience.”
Charlie Leckie, Associate Director, Crieff Hydro, said, “The nature of this project in an open hotel means it needs to be carried out as quickly as possible with little disruption to our guests. We have a longstanding team of outstanding professionals who have brought particular expertise to the project and are pleased to have found a suitably experienced and enthusiastic lead contractor in Thomas Johnstone Ltd who started out in business in the same year as Crieff Hydro – 1868.”
