Volvo CE Showcases New Generation EC300 Excavator at Korean Customer Event

January 2025

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) recently held an extensive customer event in Korea to introduce its latest innovation, the New Generation 32-ton EC300 excavator. The event, attended by over 500 customers, showcased Volvo CE’s commitment to delivering advanced construction machinery tailored to the evolving needs of the Korean market.

Jinhwan Kang, Product Manager at Volvo CE, led the product introduction, highlighting the enhanced features of the EC300. This was followed by operator training, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions, giving attendees the opportunity to directly experience the capabilities of the new model. The high-energy event, which spanned several days, included face-to-face sessions with product experts, enabling participants to ask detailed questions and share feedback about the new excavator.

Customers were impressed with the EC300’s performance enhancements. Feedback focused on the model’s improved operating speed, increased oil cooler capacity, and advanced fuel efficiency. Attendees also praised the smooth coordination between the boom and arm, as well as the upgraded operator convenience features.

Meeting the Needs of the Korean Construction Market

The EC300 is designed to meet the demands of the Korean construction sector, making it an excellent choice for applications such as road building, quarries, recycling plants, and general construction. With an annual demand of approximately 1,000 units for such equipment in Korea, Volvo CE’s introduction of the EC300 demonstrates its commitment to catering to local market requirements.

Volvo CE plans to continue engaging with its Korean customer base by hosting a Customer Experience Day at its Changwon facility later this year. This event will further strengthen the company’s relationship with its customers and provide additional opportunities for them to explore the capabilities of Volvo’s advanced machinery.

Key Features of the New Generation EC300

At the heart of the EC300 is the reliable and robust Volvo D8M engine, which delivers exceptional torque even at low RPM. This ensures a quieter and smoother operation, creating a comfortable work environment with reduced noise levels, minimal vibrations, and advanced heat management technology.

The EC300’s refined design includes a lower rear height, reduced by 100mm compared to the previous generation, and a counterweight that has been increased by 300kg. These changes contribute to improved stability and performance. Safety and convenience are enhanced by an integrated camera system, and the cab is outfitted with high-definition monitors and cameras. Operator comfort is prioritized with features such as deluxe seats, large heated mirrors, a button start system, emergency stop devices, and joystick operation.

The excavator is equipped with an advanced, fully electro-hydraulic control system that ensures smooth and precise operation. It offers 10 working modes, auto power boost, boom and arm shock reduction, boom descent speed control, and priority functions for boom and swing movements. These features not only enhance productivity but also simplify maintenance.

Additionally, the EC300 includes cutting-edge smart capabilities such as optional packages like Dig Assist and Volvo Active Control. Safety-focused features, including a human-object recognition alarm system and Volvo Smart View, further optimize on-site functionality and safety.

Commitment to Customer Satisfaction and Innovation

Hojin Kang, Head of Technology at Volvo CE’s Changwon facility, expressed confidence in the capabilities of the New Generation EC300. He highlighted its potential to uphold and enhance Volvo’s strong reputation in the Korean construction equipment market.

“The New Generation EC300 is a testament to Volvo's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. We are excited to bring this advanced machine to our customers in Korea and are confident it will exceed their expectations,” said Hojin Kang.

The introduction of the EC300 is part of Volvo CE’s broader strategy to enhance its brand value in Korea and maximize the benefits for its customers. By addressing the specific needs of the Korean construction market, Volvo CE aims to strengthen its position as a leader in construction equipment and deliver solutions that combine performance, convenience, and safety.
