At the KINTEX exhibition hall in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on Thursday, HD Hyundai XiteSolution demonstrated the future potential of their heavy machinery by remotely controlling miniatures of their equipment. These machines, simulating the excavation and movement of dirt, showcased the company’s capability for future space exploration, including lunar and Martian missions. The display, which was a centerpiece of the CONEX Korea International Construction Equipment Exhibition, emphasized the advanced control and operational features of HD Hyundai's construction machinery, overseen from Earth.
The four-day exhibition, Korea’s largest for construction equipment, marked its return after three years since its last event in 2021. HD Hyundai XiteSolution’s subsidiaries, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai Infracore, played a prominent role by presenting a range of advanced machinery and technologies aimed at enhancing construction site safety, productivity, and eco-friendliness. The companies filled the venue with an array of mega-sized machines and futuristic equipment, highlighting their commitment to sustainable construction practices.
A significant focus of the exhibition was HD Hyundai XiteSolution’s “Xite Transformation” vision, initially presented by Vice Chairman and CEO Chung Ki-sun at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. The vision emphasizes innovation in safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, with its distinctive yellow machines, showcased the Hyundai Connect mobile app. This app allows users to diagnose equipment issues via smartphones and request after-sales services. The company also unveiled the HX20E, its first electric excavator, alongside other cutting-edge equipment specifically designed for the Korean market.
In addition to their individual contributions, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment highlighted collaborations with major tech firms. “We worked together with KT to protect underground cables during excavation work,” an employee stated. The firm has also partnered with Google Cloud to operate an artificial intelligence-based call center, further integrating advanced technologies into construction operations.
HD Hyundai Infracore, displaying their orange Develon-branded machines, introduced miniatures of futuristic cabinless excavators, dumper trucks, and dozers. Notably, the company, Korea’s sole manufacturer of dozers, presented its latest models and a mini-excavator for Korean farmers, which is scheduled for release next year. To provide an immersive experience, visitors had the opportunity to explore virtual and augmented reality equipment, simulating operations from HD Hyundai’s headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
At the event, HD Hyundai XiteSolution sought to draw connections between everyday life and the construction equipment industry, demonstrating how their machinery contributes to the sustainability of human society. The exhibition booths also featured zones designed for younger attendees. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment introduced a toy-like transformable excavator, dumper truck, and wheel loader, while Ulsan HD FC forward Um Won-sang was invited to sign autographs for football fans. HD Hyundai Infracore went further by allowing children to operate a full-scale excavator and offering a playground with mock-up machines for a more hands-on experience.
Reflecting on the event, an HD Hyundai XiteSolution official commented, “Construction equipment can be a solution for the sustainability of human beings,” highlighting the company’s drive toward linking construction innovations with everyday experiences.
